Lady A presents herself as a beautifully maintained example of the Grand Banks 42 Motor Yacht, with a remarkable level of care evident throughout the yacht. Her high-quality solid teak interior, carefully maintained upholstery and numerous upgrades all contribute to the warm and timeless character for which Grand Banks is renowned.

Boarding is easy via the lightweight gangway secured to the mast boom and readily deployed when required. A stainless-steel cradle on the port side of the swimming platform provides a secure and practical place for the Highfield tender.

On the full beam aft deck there is ample room for a table and chairs, making this a natural area for outdoor dining and relaxing. Large storage lockers doubling as seats are located to both port and starboard. The entire aft deck, side decks, fly bridge deck and foredeck retain their original teak.

Forward, the cabin roof provides another inviting outdoor area. The sunbathing cushions are in near-new condition and come with their own protective cover, making this a particularly attractive spot for relaxing while underway or at anchor.

The flybridge is one of the highlights of the Grand Banks 42 Motor Yacht. It is exceptionally generous in size and arranged for both entertaining and comfortable cruising.

To starboard is a spacious dinette with a beautiful teak table, while the helm is positioned further forward to starboard with excellent visibility in all directions. To port, a substantial companion seating area provides comfortable accommodation for guests while underway.

The helm station is beautifully laid out and equipped with a comprehensive suite of navigation instruments and electronics, while the elevated position provides an outstanding panoramic view over the surrounding waters.

The flybridge cushions are in near-new condition and have protective covers. The new full forward flybridge cover provides additional protection when the yacht is not in use. A dark-blue bimini provides shade over the main seating area, complemented by matching dark-blue covers for the flybridge and aft deck.

Two drawer-style refrigerators on the flybridge make it particularly well suited to spending an entire day outdoors without having to continually go below.

One of the particularly pleasant characteristics of the Grand Banks 42 is how quietly she operates. On the flybridge, the sound of the engines is barely noticeable, while the exhaust note is remarkably subdued even when underway.

Access to the main interior is possible from either the port or starboard side, leading into the beautifully finished main saloon.

The first impression is immediately one of quality. The solid teak interior remains in particularly fine condition, with the warm woodwork creating the unmistakable Grand Banks atmosphere. The upholstery throughout is in very good condition, while the curtains have been replaced with high-quality, near-new examples, carefully made for all the windows. The saloon windows are also fitted with blinds.

The saloon features the characteristic Grand Banks dining table, complete with integrated drinks storage, and provides a comfortable space for dining or relaxing in all weather conditions. Subtle indirect lighting adds to the warm atmosphere after sunset.

Moving forward, the galley is located to port and follows the familiar and practical Grand Banks arrangement, allowing the crew to remain connected with the saloon while preparing meals.

The well-appointed lower helm is positioned to starboard in the main saloon, offering the skipper a comfortable and protected position with excellent visibility through the large forward and side windows. The traditional Grand Banks styling is complemented by a classic teak steering wheel and a well-organised dashboard, including a Furuno chartplotter with radar, multi displays and the VHF radio, together with the engine controls. The adjacent side door provides direct access to the side deck, making this a particularly practical position when manoeuvring or handling lines.

The 42 Motor Yacht layout provides particularly good accommodation for a yacht of this size. The spacious owner’s stateroom is located aft and offers a comfortable private retreat, complete with a separate shower and bathroom. Forward, the guest accommodation comprises a port cabin with twin berths and a separate forward cabin with V-berth, together accommodating up to four guests and served by a separate bathroom. This layout is one of the significant advantages of the Motor Yacht over the Classic version and makes Lady A particularly suitable for extended cruising.

Air conditioning is installed throughout the yacht, ensuring comfortable temperatures both at anchor and in the marina.

Lady A is powered by twin Caterpillar 3208 TA engines, each producing 375 hp. These well-proven engines are a familiar and highly regarded installation in the Grand Banks 42, combining robustness with excellent range and economical operation.

At typical trawler displacement speeds, Lady A can be cruised very economically, making her particularly well suited to longer passages and relaxed cruising. When conditions or circumstances call for it, the twin Caterpillars also provide the power to increase speed and cover ground more quickly.

Modern communications and connectivity are provided by Starlink, adding a useful contemporary touch to this classic Grand Banks.
