BROKER'S COMMENT
"I first saw the Explorer 62 at her introduction at Boot Düsseldorf, and she made a lasting impression on me from the outset. Her distinctive design and innovative indoor-outdoor concept set her apart, while the forward-positioned superstructure creates an exceptionally generous aft deck, bringing you closer to the water and making the most of life outdoors. Below deck, the accommodation is equally impressive, with the engine room positioned entirely aft, allowing for remarkably generous living spaces. The overall sense of space, comfort and thoughtful design gives you the feeling of being aboard a much larger superyacht.
Now, after two years of cruising, Defiance I has demonstrated her capabilities as a capable and versatile cruising yacht. Her current condition is equally impressive. The owner has maintained a permanent crew on board, ensuring that the yacht has been meticulously cared for throughout her time in service. The result is a yacht that presents in near-new condition.
Despite her size and sophisticated systems, Defiance I does not require a professional crew. She has been designed to offer comfortable, manageable cruising for an owner-operator, and can be handled perfectly well by a couple.
For anyone looking for a modern, fully equipped, state-of-the-art cruising yacht that combines innovative design, exceptional outdoor living and proven cruising capabilities, Defiance I represents a particularly compelling opportunity to acquire a yacht in virtually as-new condition."

OWNER'S COMMENT
"Owning a yacht like Defiance I gave me the opportunity to fulfil a long-held dream: spending two years exploring the Mediterranean and Adriatic, taking the time to discover their coastlines, islands and hidden treasures at our own pace.
Over two six-month seasons, we cruised from the Spanish coast and the Balearic Islands to France, Sardinia and Corsica, followed the Italian coastline via Sicily all the way to Venice, and then continued through Croatia, with its thousands of islands, to Montenegro.
Along the way, family and friends joined us for different stages of the journey. Sharing these experiences with them made it all the more special. We were fortunate enough to take our time, explore places in depth and enjoy everything this wonderful part of Europe has to offer, rather than simply moving from one destination to the next.
Defiance I proved to be the perfect companion for this adventure. In good weather, opening up the entire saloon transformed the main deck into a wonderful indoor-outdoor living space, connecting the interior seamlessly with the aft deck and the sea beyond. When conditions were less favourable, the flexibility of the design provided a comfortable and protected environment without compromising the enjoyment of life on board.
At anchor, the aft deck became the heart of our time aboard, offering three distinct areas to enjoy: a generous dining table for long lunches and dinners outdoors, a spacious lounge for relaxing with family and friends, and a large sunbathing area. Beyond it, the expansive bathing platform brought us right down to the water, making swimming and simply enjoying the sea an integral part of everyday life.
Looking back, Defiance I has given us exactly what we hoped for, and more. She combines the comfort and space needed for extended cruising with the freedom to explore at our own pace, whether underway, at anchor or enjoying time ashore."

DESCRIPTION
Bathing Platform & Tender Garage
Starting at the expansive bathing platform, which lowers hydraulically to launch the tender from its dedicated garage. A retractable passerelle provides convenient access when stern-to moored, while the integrated shower makes rinsing off after a swim or washing down the tender straightforward. The illuminated glass panel behind the garage adds a distinctive touch after dark.
Aft Cockpit & Outdoor Living
Exceptionally spacious for a yacht of 62 feet, the aft cockpit is one of the defining features of Defiance I, offering an outstanding amount of space dedicated to outdoor living. The layout is arranged around three distinct areas: a generous dining table for relaxed al fresco meals, comfortable lounge seating for socialising and unwinding, and a large sunbed aft for enjoying the sunshine close to the water.
The freestanding furniture can be rearranged to suit different occasions, allowing the space to adapt effortlessly from outdoor dining to a relaxed lounge setting. The covered section can also be fully enclosed with canvas, creating a sheltered and comfortable living area when the weather is less favourable and extending the enjoyment of this exceptional space beyond fine-weather cruising.
A joystick docking station makes manoeuvring easier for an owner-operated yacht.
An overhead shower is integrated into the structure, with the controls and drainage neatly incorporated into the deck. Fuel, water and waste connections are also discreetly housed beneath the deck, keeping the exterior uncluttered.
The outdoor wet bar is perfectly positioned to serve the aft cockpit and features generous refrigeration, an ice maker, storage and a cleverly designed tap. With multiple fridges distributed throughout the yacht, provisions and refreshments are always close at hand, whether entertaining family and friends or spending extended periods at anchor. Combined with the dining area, lounge seating and sunbed, it creates an exceptionally versatile outdoor living space that truly sets the Defiance apart for life on the water.
Main Saloon: Indoor-Outdoor Living
The saloon is the centrepiece of the Defiance’s innovative design. Large windows and sliding doors allow the space to be opened up to the aft cockpit or enclosed when protection from the elements is required.
The freestanding, upholstered seating is particularly clever: the heavy cushions incorporate magnets, allowing them to be repositioned and secured in different locations. The seating arrangement can be adapted for conversation, dining or enjoying the views out over the water.
A Fusion sound system and a retractable television complete the entertainment facilities.
Galley & Main Helm Station
The galley is positioned beside the main helm. The arrangement includes a hob, microwave, dishwasher, refrigeration and practical storage.
The main helm features a modern glass-cockpit arrangement with screens, combining navigation, engine information and the yacht's integrated control systems. Lighting, air conditioning and tank levels can all be monitored and managed through the onboard interface. Volvo Penta IPS controls, a bow thruster and trim-tab controls complete the helm station.
A side-access door beside the helm is especially useful when docking, allowing the owner to move easily between the interior and the side deck.
Owner's Cabin
The full-beam owner's cabin offers an impressive amount of space for a yacht of this size. Elegant finishes, generous drawers and configurable storage solutions make it well suited to extended stays aboard. Hanging lockers and additional storage are integrated around the cabin, making practical use of the available volume. The en-suite bathroom includes twin basins, distinctive taps and a spacious shower with a rainfall showerhead.
Forward VIP Cabin
The forward VIP cabin benefits from large hull windows, generous storage and an en-suite bathroom. Thoughtful details include opening sections in the hull windows, a separate escape hatch and discreetly integrated audiovisual equipment. The bathroom features a deep basin and an ingenious arrangement in which the shower area can be configured to maximise the available space.
Guest Cabin II
The second guest cabin offers comfortable accommodation, two berths, substantial headroom and useful storage. Like the forward cabin, it benefits from an en-suite arrangement, with a clever layout that makes the most of the available space.
Guest Cabin III
Beneath the stairs you find this particularly versatile cabin with a single berth and clever storage space.
This flexibility makes the Explorer 62 adaptable to different cruising arrangements, whether travelling as a couple, with family or with friends.
Foredeck
The foredeck is deliberately compact, preserving valuable space for the main deck and flybridge. Raised bulwarks provide a secure, enclosed feeling, while the side access and carefully designed mooring arrangements are practical advantages when cruising and anchoring in the Mediterranean.
Twin polished stainless steel anchors are fitted for added security during extended stays at anchor. A dedicated chain-handling arrangement keeps muddy anchor lines away from the main deck, with a deck washdown system to simplify cleaning.
Flybridge
The flybridge offers a generous sunbathing area forward and a flexible social space with a generous seating arrangement beneath the hardtop.
The forward helm station equipment folds away when not in use, while the movable, magnetically secured seating can be repositioned to create additional lounging space. A folding table adapts to different uses, and the hardtop's adjustable horizontal slats allow the amount of sunlight and ventilation to be controlled.
A particularly clever feature is the raised serving counter, which pivots into position to create a practical serving surface without obstructing the bar area. Additional refrigeration and storage make this an excellent space for entertaining.
At the aft end of the flybridge, a more intimate retreat awaits, with two sun loungers perfectly positioned to enjoy the sunshine and take in the beautiful panoramic views.
Crew/Utility Area
On the port side of the garage is the entrance to a practical crew/utility area with a washing machine, dryer, sink, storage and an additional Pullman berth. A separate wet room with shower and toilet is conveniently located close to the bathing platform, allowing guests to freshen up without having to walk through the main accommodation.
Engine Room
Engine Room access is through the wet room. The engine room houses twin Volvo Penta D8 IPS 800 engines, each delivering 600 hp, together with the generator, a Seakeeper gyro stabiliser and Humphree fin stabilisers. A watermaker and well-organised technical systems support comfortable extended cruising, while the layout provides access to key equipment for maintenance.
A Yacht Designed Around the Cruising Experience
Throughout Defiance I, the emphasis is on flexibility, clever use of space and practical details that make extended cruising more enjoyable. From the adaptable indoor-outdoor saloon to the generous outdoor living areas, versatile accommodation and comprehensive technical equipment, this Explorer 62 offers the comfort and functionality of a much larger yacht while remaining suitable for owner-operation.
